India and China are reconnecting, literally! Direct flights between the two countries have resumed after a five-year hiatus, with the first flight taking off from Kolkata to Guangzhou at 10 PM tonight. IndiGo is leading the charge, operating daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou, while Shanghai to New Delhi flights will start on November 9, flying three times a week.
This development marks a significant improvement in bilateral relations, aiming to boost trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. The resumption of flights is expected to enhance business logistics, reduce travel time, and promote cultural engagement between the two nations.
IndiGo plans to expand its services, introducing daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou from November 10. China Eastern Airlines will also restart Shanghai-Delhi flights on November 9, operating three times a week.
